On this digipak I changed the front cover so it had the same way of displaying the album name but has the new image in the background. I like this idea more now as the scratches make the album seem more rough and aged, which really helps to create the impression of the hard rock genre.

For this post I changed the shape with the album name in it to appear like ribbon or a snake around the outside of the image. This helps to link the album to the idea of temptation further as it creates the subtle link of a snake mixed in with the apple and the effect the temptation has on the artist as I have explained previously.

Here i added a border the same colour as the band logo to make the poster look more sleek. I also added in the new picture to make the apple seem more poisonous and to match the apple on the front of the digipak.

Inside Cover

For the inside cover I added a quote into the bottom but I may change this later on, so it looks more like the back of a booklet. I have only included the main artist as this is who the fans mainly link to out of the band and other digipaks I have researched, have only chosen to use the main artist for same reasons. Digipaks that use more members of the band is when more than one people are singing. Furthermore, I chose to use a low key lighting as it makes the singer look mysterious and dangerous. Furthermore, the screaming face looks rough so it suits the genre, but it also looks like he is being tormented which could fit into the theme of temptation and the effect it has had on the artist. I have chosen to link the whole album to temptation and researching more into the album I found out the songs were based off of the artists personal experiences, which is why I have chosen to link the artist to the temptation theme.

Here is the next draft of the image for my digipak. Here I have added the same aging affect as I did to the back cover. I have done this as it looks more rough, so it suits the rock genre.

Here I added a snowy affect in the top corner to add an aged affect to the album. Furthermore, I added a star trail effect to the lead singer to create a mysterious impression come off the singer.

For this I created the track list for the album and added copyright information etc to the album.

So far on the poster I have included the apple overlay to relate to the album cover and the inside pic of the artist in order to advertise the artist so fans are easily able to recognise him.

I have the included the band name, album name, release date, famous songs and band website with company logos in the corners. To progress I shall play around with the image more to make both ideas evident. I will also play around with placement of text and fonts in order to see what works best.

In this draft we colour corrected some of our shots and changed the ending as we tought the original shot looked better.

I think the front cover for the digipak is effective but does this imagery and symbolism of the apple link to any of the other ancillary or main tasks- be sure that you upload the images to show how you have manipulated them and that they iconography is not too subtle.

Video draft updates

For draft 6:
Here I included some of the shots that we re-shot on Wednesday of the band and filmed in the blanks, and replaced shots that did not look right due to the framing of the location etc. However, I realised I still have one shot to re-shoot as it has a prop from the school production in the background still.

For draft 7:
In this draft I switched the bedroom shots that we re-shot on Thursday in order to improve the lighting. I feel that with the new lighting there is a lot less grain which makes the video seem of a better quality. Furthermore, I quite like how this lighting is cold as although the warm lighting was romantic the cold lighting seems to suit the genre specifications more.

Here I used the idea of Adam and Eve in the tree of wisdom and displayed the artist for advertisement.

I need to chose which font to use from the right for the track list and play around with the fonts at the bottom in order to progress forward.

To improve on this we are going to work on the bad features by re-filming the negative shots in order to higher some of our marks on the mark scheme.

Update

Currently, I need to reshoot the following shots in order to complete the music video. Once the video is complete I shall conduct a focus group and gain feedback, in order to see which improvements I need to make. The shots to reshoot are:
"You let the animal" mid shot as this was not long enough shot
"Out" Zoom out as the camera died while filming so did not capture
"you run me right of the rails" over shoulder shot to edit out the background as then it appears to be in a school which is not the effect we were hoping for.
Jack drumming with slight pan- again to get rid of the school background.

"I lost control" mid shot
"I must be crazyyyyy" band long shot side angle
"You got me feeling like im dancing on nails" extreme close up at end to get drummer in background.


As we have been going through this process we have rearranged parts of the story board in order to gain smoother transitions and to take out any parts of the video that did not look right with the editing.


Digipak plans- Front cover: For the cover I shall get the hand with apple and poison dripping down the arm. I will attempt to manipulate this by desaturating the arm and increasing the saturation of the poison to emphasise this effect of danger. I will also try and add a band around the wrist of the arm in order to give off a snake effect and give the impression of Adam and Eve to a further extent. I have chose to use the theme of temptation throughout represented by Adam and Eve as I feel like this strongly relates to rock, as it is seen to be a promiscuous and rebellious genre, which is well represented in this story. To match this idea I am considering the title "Deadly Sins".


Inside cover: For the inside cover I plan to merge the screaming pictures of the lead singer with the "tree of wisdom" in the background to further the idea of Adam and Eve and to market the artist as this is a close up of the artist.

Behind CD: Here I plan to put a picture of the drawn snake behind the CD as it is quite basic, so it does not take attention away from the rest of the album or the CD cover yet it still fits in with the theme of the rest of the album.

Back cover: I plan to use a picture of James using leaning against the tree and use the blank space to write the information.

The image of the apple is interesting but consider how the digipak promotes the artist- will you need a close up at some point for branding and marketing purposes? Be sure to link ancillaries with a house style.

Here are some of the images I took in order to play with the same intertextual theme. I will now also start manipulating these in order to create the effects I have envisioned and to see if a reshoot is necessary.
