Focus Group

Earlier in the project we filmed a focus group, however there was some technical difficulties with uploading the video with the way it was filmed, so I shall script what the interviewees and interviewer said then try and upload the video later.

interviewees- Jack, Sam and Olivia
Interviewer- James

First of all we showed the interviewees the music video and lyrics.
Interviewer: What images do you imagine seeing in a music video for our song after listening to the music and reading the lyrics?
Sam: I imagine a really hot woman
Jack: yeah she could be like dancing around and acting quite seductive throughout the video
Olivia: That's true and I could see her having quite dark hair as it would suit the genre very well. Like a kind of Megan Fox looking woman

James: Ok thanks guys, so in your opinion what makes a music video bad?
Jack: when the lyrics have no relation to the music video
Olivia: yeah because then meanings can be misinterpreted. Also when the shots are quite shaky because that makes the video seem to be of a cheap quality
Sam: Also when the band isn't shown because i like to get to know the band in their music and get a certain atmosphere from the video especially with the rock genre!

We then explained our ideas of what to do in the music video to the interviewees. We told them how we were going to base it around the theme of temptation and use the story line of a boy and girl at a house party which builds up to the bedroom.

James: What do you guys think of this idea? are there any improvements you would make to it?
Sam: I think that idea is really good I look forward to seeing it
Olivia: I like the idea as it suits the genre well
Jack: The idea is good just make sure to advertise the band lots in it and get lots of close ups of them to create an exciting atmosphere for fans

We then showed them two images of people to play the female role to see who they thought would be better for the role
James: So do you think Hope or Carlota for the role?
Olivia: Hope
Jack: Hope
Sam: Carlota

James: Finally, what do you guys think about when you think of the idea of temptation? Like are there any films, books or other music videos you think of.
Jack: I think of Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne
Sam: Oh my gosh yes I really like the part in the video where she is getting a massage and the video is slow mo, as I thought that moment was especially tempting for the boy.
Olivia: yeah that's a good one. Otherwise, I think that you should use outfits like Mr Grey uses in 50 shades, as then we can see why the female is tempted by you not just how you are tempted by her. The girl should wear quite a short outfit as these are seen especially to be promiscuous.

James: Ok thanks for your time and thoughts guys we shall take all your ideas into account when making the music video.

From looking at these results, we have realised to use Hope as the main role for woman. We also realised what we can do to avoid our video looking bad and images we could include which would be aesthetically pleasing to the fans.
