Representation in our video

Representation in our trailer
Conventional representations:
In our music video we shall use typical stereotypes of men, women and teenagers.
Male lead-     made to objectify women
  • Physique is strong
  • Sexual attractiveness in the suit
  • Party going as in early twenties
  • Powerful white man- got money- materialistic
  • promiscuous
Female Lead-
  • pretty, skinny, model type character
  • Relationships
  • Party goer in early 20’s
  • Materialistic- gold snake bangle
  • Promiscuous- temptress
Band members-
  •  strength and talent in playing their instruments
  • Rebellious appearance
  • Shows a style of fashion
Ways of challenging the stereotypes:
Male:       -     not in control over his actions
  • In a sense powerless to the woman
Female:   -      Manipulative over man’s actions kind of controlling
Representations:
Male: Negative as seen as powerless to woman and obsessed with materials and partying, could be seen as selfish
Female: Negative as seen as temptress controlling man’s actions and temptation is seen to be a sin, therefore it is a bad thing.
Band: Negative as their style could be seen as a band influence to their fan members
How appeals to audience?
These stereotypes would appeal to the audience as although they’re negative representations we are in an essence showing the audience features of what they wish to look like, which would make them want to watch the music video. The representation would also promote our artist as it shows of their personality and links to the genre.
